Oligarchy (noun):

A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.

More to the point, not one flat screen TV is made in the USA, and the cost of one (if factories were built) would be multiples of what they have cost previously. No US worker would work for the $6/hr that Chinese or Vietnamese workers earn. It's simple: free trade is GOOD. It all worked till tRump
WHAT DO THESE GENIUSES THINK WILL HAPPEN TO MANUFACTURING JOBS IN THIS COUNTRY IF THERE IS A RECESSION !?!?!?!?!?!!?

The CEO of USA's biggest toy manufacturer today was on the radio. He asked how moving manufacture back to the USA would work. Their biggest sellers are toys made in Vietnam. Workers are paid $6/hr. So, I ask the MAGA crazies - how can this work for the toys to cost the same? (Build factories, too!)
The reason Trump has slapped tariffs on the entire world is not to protect American workers.

What Trump cares about is being able to get concessions out of other countries and corporations that seek exemptions.

It's all about his ability to hand out punishments and rewards.

The richest man in the world spent more money than most of us will see in our lifetimes to lose a state Supreme Court race by 10 points.

And the fact his $25 million was a drop in the bucket compared to what he's spent on other elections is exactly why we must overturn Citizens United.

Here in Australia, we are slow-clapping. With a huge drop in US consumer demand a sure bet, we here will be offered Chinese goods at discount prices to keep their sales volume up. Result: Inflation relief for us Aussies, lower interest rates and a "buy-Australia" campaign. Thanks, Donnie!
It's not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory.

Even if it's made in the USA , they will jack up the price and blame it on tariffs.

I assume that Trump intends to ‘liberate’ people from their money, their investments and from any belief that he has their best interests in mind.
Watch the markets crash. Woe betides us.

Reality has not even begun to bite. Signal scandal? QUICK!!!!.... throw in a red herring about a 3rd term. But interest rates, inflation and job losses will be real. He won't be able to bluster people's reality away. Remember "I couldn't care less" is what the Orange One said just yesterday.

The plan is to open car factories in the US, eh? How long does it take to 1. Plan 2. Get approvals 3. Put out to tender and receive bids 4. Obtain materials and start building the plants 5. Tool up plants with new machinery 6. Train workers 7. Satisfy safety regulations? (Hint: more than 3 years)
