Is there ever going to be an interviewer who pushes back and tells him that immigrants seeking asylum is different than insane asylums?
O'DONNELL: Are we going to war against Venezuela?

TRUMP: I doubt it. They emptied their mental institutions and insane asylums into the United States of America

Calm down, folks, it was just an attempted assassination of a Jewish Democratic governor and his family on the first night of Passover, it’s not like somebody spray painted a dick on a Cybertruck.

The British got to vote on Brexit. They decided to punch themselves in the face, but at least they got to decide.

Here in America, we have one guy deciding that we're all going to punch ourselves in the face.

This is a good example of the cartoonish idiocy (and cruelty) of the Trump tariffs *relative to their own stated purpose.*

(Note that the actual tariff rate on imports from Madagascar is 47 percent, which is still one of the highest for any country.)
We import a boatload of Nickel and Vanilla from Madagascar - not stuff you can grow/mine everywhere.

We don’t sell them a much cos the average income is $510 per year.

Because Trump’s Tax is based on trade deficit, not tariffs, we’re now slapping a 90% tariff on Madagascar.
Question: Réunion island is a French region. Why doesn’t it get tariffed with the EU?

Could the administration be confusing things with how much extra it costs to send things there UPS?

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

Fact-check of Trump’s tariff speech finds some doozies. Why tariffs? Speech suggests they could replace income tax, benefiting wealthy over lower income Americans. When a choice makes no apparent sense, it’s usually about $$$.

Yes but tariffs are not a tool of econ policy to reduce the deficit at the expense of the economy. They are a fascist tool—in line with bullying universities and law firms and deporting protesters—to compel fealty from business by forcing companies to beg for exceptions. See the bigger picture!
One way to reduce the trade deficit is to crater the U.S. economy, thus reducing our ability to buy goods from abroad. Is that the Trump team's secret weapon? U.S. merchandise trade deficit fell by a 1/3 in 2009 because of the Great Recession.

It is absolutely right that we do not need Greenland (or Canada) for natsec reasons because they are already close NATO allies. So the only rationale to turn the US into an aggressor in our own hemisphere is if you don’t plan on NATO being a US alliance in the future.
