1. You may have heard of book bans before, but the new one in Alabama takes the cake.

The Alabama Public Library Service has a new proposal that would ban—get this—only "positive depictions" of trans people.

The hearing is next month. Public comment is open.

"Positive Depictions" Of Trans People Banned In Alabama State Libraries Proposal
The code change that has been proposed does not ban negative depictions of transgender people, however. Public comment is open until October 14.

Keep posting about how ridiculous their statements and guidelines are, because they are and deserve ridicule
We should really go out of our way to embarrass these brands. Flood their IG, Twitter, all their socials. Draw art making MasterCard and Visa looking like losers. They should be laughing stocks.
What I took away that's actionable from this is that our best and most effective course of action is to continue to be loud, keep pressure on, and embarrass the payment processors and associated banks. Trying to get into the messy politics side of it defocuses our laserbeam

More kids are seeing porn now than before the Online Safety Act became law. It’s literally having the opposite effect.

The major cause? X. The vast majority of minors saw porn, far outstripping actual porn sites.

So of course, the UK government wants to double down with more censorship.

Literally none of the time you spent calling Visa/MasterCard this week will matter if this shit passes

Yes it's exhausting to have more calls to make

But this *is* life or death

Censorship is the first stage of removing marginalized people from public life, and then from life itself

The goal of this is to signal to lawmakers this bill is not popular and shouldn't be brought before Congress (should die in committee or elsewhere).

These links have scripts!
Stop KOSA
KOSA is a censorship bill that won’t make kids safe. Instead, it'll put all internet users at risk, especially youth. If you believe in a free and open internet, tell your lawmakers to reject #KOSA!

Something most posts don't mention about the payment processor thing is that if you live in the US you can and SHOULD file a complaint on Visa/MasterCard/PayPal/Stripe to the Better Business Bureau.

Even if they don't respond, it'll show up under their profile

People have been desperately sharing private information because they feel they need to air their marginalized traits as credentials in order to have social permission to do normal things like yearn and be annoyed and have opinions about television. That whole paradigm has to end.
it will be difficult but we're going to need a fairly radical shift in online norms over the coming years as censorship and puritan crackdowns continue to worsen. absolutely no more listing your age, mental illnesses and all your kinks on your profile. the era of shutting da fuck up is here

Create NSFW art

Porn is not evil, sex is not abhorrent, pleasure is not a crime

Even if you don't agree with all kinks doesn't mean they should be allowed to censor art

This is why we have tags and the blick button, not megacorps deciding what we can and cannot like

I support incest games. I support non-con and violent games. I support the right for games with fictionalized abuse of -any- form to exist.

the fundamental line in the sand is, "was another, real human being, harmed/abused/had their consent violated"? if that box isnt checked, then i dont care.
