ALL of my friends were reading it back in the day. I tried. . . . It just didn't land for me.

I will offer this in my defense: I am a huge Tolkien enthusiast. 😊

Ah! Well, thank you for thinking of me but honestly, even with the world's most powerful electron microscope, I could not find my interest in reading science fiction. 😛

I have not. I'm not entirely sure what it is. 😛

I confess I was so displeased with the first Hobbit movie that I didn't watch the other two. 😬 Not only was the first movie boring, it made too many deviations from the original. I suppose I'm too loyal to the original Tolkien stories/world to tolerate wide "adaptations."

Of the movies? Definitely NOT a fan. Of the book? BIG fan of all things Tolkien.

"October" is my favorite track on that album.

The consensus is that they are not a Christian rock band. That seemed to get that angst out of them by their fifth album, the Joshua Tree. That's their best selling album and it'll sound like a greatest hits record for casual listeners. "Oh, I know that one! Oh, I know this one, too," etc... 😛

rock and roll career with their Christian faith. The lyrics are sometimes overwrought, Bono takes himself way too seriously, etc... even so, I love the music on that album. There are some great textures.

They obviously found a better balance for their 3rd album, War.
