Trump seems to back off Portland military plan: 'Am I watching things on television that are different from what's happening?'
President Trump had said he will send troops to Portland to protect U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities, which he said were "under attack."

Would just point out that consumer sentiment is kind of a lagging indicator. Generally after a recession (backwards looking) has already started.

1/2. Charlie Kirk frequently called for other people to be killed.

Remember that time when Charlie Kirk called for Joe Biden to be executed? I do.

He didn't even bother to posit any particular crime.

I have read Trump’s “war department” EO.

This is nothing. He changed nothing. He added pretend secondary titles with no power under the law.

He will make the government spend hundreds of millions for vanity labeling purposes.

If you’re in the media and you don’t harp on that, you’re failing.

There is no conceivable interpretation of the law of war in which a camera set up nearby legitimizes a mass casualty double tap strike on a protected civilian site like a hospital.

The fact that Israel is citing it as if it meets some standard should, by itself, trigger a halt in weapons to Israel.
Israel's military said its initial inquiry determined that a deadly attack on a Gaza hospital that killed 20 people, five of them Gaza-based Palestinian journalists, was intended to destroy a camera placed in the area by Hamas militants. Israel provided no evidence.

A great piece exemplifying the need to understand the data and how that is severely lacking among this administration.

Plus a side of mind-numbing hypocrisy & cherry-picking. I thought all the BLS numbers are fake news...

Good news is economic uncertainty is falling.
Bad news is it's still incredibly high.

The Federal Reserve's July Beige Book mentioned uncertainty-related terms 67 times in July, down from 82 in June, but above any pre-2025 data point.

You’ve seen this movie before: Maybe Reagan guessed, Bush hoped, and Trump tried—but tax cuts never paid for themselves. Given the mountain of evidence, claiming once again that "tax cuts will pay for themselves" is no longer ideologically motivated optimism.

It's a lie.
