Reading, theology, cooking, college sports (Razorbacks), and trivia. I went to Bible college and somehow left without a spouse. Got one later, though. Gumbo Tour, 2018-2025. My dad makes better red beans and rice than yours.

Good morning, beloved.

You lose the muscles you do not use.

Choose love regularly & intentionally.

Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.

Alert the sororities of America, I've got a great idea - a recruitment video with approximately 200 white girls dancing in front of their house. Not dancing too well, mind you. Just...kinda bouncing? Bonus points if the video kicks off with a wobbly cartwheel. I take checks and Venmo.

1. This week, the FBI released its comprehensive crime report for 2024, which revealed that both VIOLENT CRIME and PROPERTY CRIME reached their LOWEST LEVELS SINCE THE 1960s

This a massive story. But you might not have heard about it, even if you follow the news closely.

Here's why.
Why you might not know that 2024 was America's safest year since the 1960s
An overwhelming majority of Americans, 64 percent, believe that crime increased across the country in 2024, according to a Gallup survey conducted late last year.

That's worth repeating:

"An organization that was founded to sanctify bondage cannot be trusted to lead anyone to deliverance."
Reminder: the Confederate Baptist Convention is essentially, historically, and objectively bad, and we shouldn’t listen to it.

Read some new historical fiction this week, then saw this quote from the author - "If you’ve read Harry Turtledove but wished for more emotional depth and philosophical weight, this is the evolution you’ve been looking for." That's a big shot to take, but especially if you miss by a mile.

Jesus leaned on the Divine for those instead.

In our time, Satan offered us provision, protection, and power.

It’s weird this has to be said but… there is no “warrior culture” in following Jesus.

Sure, Christianity & Christendom have made room for that.

But it’s VERY plainly not there in the story of the dude who rebuked a follower for drawing and using a sword as he was arrested.
