Mexico City has protected bus/bike lanes on roads that don't have protected bike lanes
It helped that the bike/bus lanes had physical lane dividers, speed cushions, and wide enough lanes that I could pull to the side for the bus to pass
Still not ideal for a kid safe bike lane, but it worked

This is how slow the new gates are when most riders are coming from one direction: 6 riders/min when other gate styles do 60+ riders/min
Now imagine having to take turns to use the gate cutting the capacity to 2-3 riders/min
The new gates are fundamentally flawed for BART levels of ridership

This is what it's like to pay in Japan, where the gates are open by default and read your phone immediately
If MTC insists that BART must be gate controlled then they should purchase gates like these

San Francisco's premier regional transit hub sucks to use as a transit rider
You wait next to a ground level highway with no seating or bathrooms
The daytime park is nice as a concept I suppose, but it is of no practical use for riders who would prefer a $200 bench to exist over a $2B park
