Annapurna in Old Oakland doesn't get nearly enough patrons for how amazing the food is
Highly recommend eating here!

Mexico City has protected bus/bike lanes on roads that don't have protected bike lanes
It helped that the bike/bus lanes had physical lane dividers, speed cushions, and wide enough lanes that I could pull to the side for the bus to pass
Still not ideal for a kid safe bike lane, but it worked

I am biking Telegraph right now actually. It was clear all the way from downtown to 29th, where as soon as it switched to paint only there was a car blocking the bike lane
But my question is more about what to do for roads like 73rd where the status quo is deadly if not protection

My guesstimate was very close! Improved tracks with 110mph diesel trains would reduce trip time to 34m from JLS to Diridon
So probably below 30m with 110mph electric trains with faster acceleration!

Good point. The threshold markings in Amsterdam airport made it much more obvious when it was time to tag
I also wish there were tag-on and tag-off stations inside the train.

Caltrain's fare "gates" are hands down better for riders than BART's
I saw scores of people arrive at the last minute still able to board because they could tap-and-go quickly or just board directly with a pass

I am on a crowded 7 train/day Capital Corridor headed to San Jose
Even though it is a slow diesel train on shared freight tracks, it is the fastest trip between Oakland and San Jose!
It is faster than BART, Caltrain, or even driving, and that's before electrification!

This is how slow the new gates are when most riders are coming from one direction: 6 riders/min when other gate styles do 60+ riders/min
Now imagine having to take turns to use the gate cutting the capacity to 2-3 riders/min
The new gates are fundamentally flawed for BART levels of ridership

This is what it's like to pay in Japan, where the gates are open by default and read your phone immediately
If MTC insists that BART must be gate controlled then they should purchase gates like these

San Francisco's premier regional transit hub sucks to use as a transit rider
You wait next to a ground level highway with no seating or bathrooms
The daytime park is nice as a concept I suppose, but it is of no practical use for riders who would prefer a $200 bench to exist over a $2B park

I wish we had cross agency coordination like in Switzerland
It sucks that the 14 missed the 800 by 30 seconds and I'll have to wait another 30 minutes for the next one

Can we please stop talking about how @bart.gov needs to "cut costs". They are the most efficient transit agency in the nation and the trains are overcrowded with riders.
@governor.ca.gov fund BART to run trains every 6 minutes like WMATA in DC. End transit austerity!

And of course, the dedicated "transit" lanes are just going to robotaxis. They couldn't even keep the charade going for a day.

The bulk of the internal streets are transit+car streets which are 100ft wide, about the width of 6 lane Van Ness in SF!
They aren't planning on subsidizing transit operations so I don't see how the transit system operates on 100% fare recovery so these transit lanes will be repurposed as car lanes

Yes, the pink, orange, and purple roads are 6 car lanes with the highways having the ROW available to expand to 8-10 lanes

Berkeley's residential zoning outside of fire risk zones is Medium Density Residential or higher
Medium Density Residential is mixture of SFH and plexes and comes out to 20-40 du/acre
CA Forever is zoning for the Berkeley flats, but with massively wide 6-8 lane roads and no transit
