I quit my job today. I had to sit in a training where I was told state law now requires me to disrespect students by misgendering them. I felt the need to ask if my tattoo counted as violating the law that we can’t discuss gender and sexuality with our kids. I was told to hide books I love. I refuse
I quit my job in August due to TX 89th Leg SB 12 requiring teachers to deadname and misgender students, as well as banning all discussion of identity and orientation. Nearly two months later, I have not found another job. So after the first month, I applied for unemployment.

Grading my students’ writing with AI is another thing I refuse to do.
Every rich person is going to tell *you* how great AI teaching is while sending *their* kids to the kind of schooling the Ancient Greeks would recognize. I just wish everyone would think about why that is.
I think we’re on the cusp of mass attempts to automate teaching, and I also think it is going to be a massive wasteful failure in ways that will make the “learning loss” of the pandemic look like a speed bump next to a mountain.
