my grocery store has a massive trade deficit with me. I buy from them every week and they never buy anything from me. in order to correct this injustice, I’m going to self-impose a sales tax on groceries so that I can’t buy as many.

It’s patently false, but notice that “humans won’t be needed” to these people is identified as the desired future rather than the deeply dystopian vision that it actually is.
Bill Gates: Within 10 years, AI will replace many doctors and teachers—humans won't be needed ‘for most things'
Over the next decade, advances in artificial intelligence will mean that humans will no longer be needed "for most things" in the world, says Bill Gates.

Minnewaska State Park with a giant snow cone! The map isn’t the trail I did, I just thought it was cool that you could touch wherever you want to go from the visitor center and it would highlight a trail option. Will be back when the snow melts! I ❤️ NY

To be fair, Trump having veto power at the UN isn't great. Silver lining?
With the House budget resolution passed by a whisker, Elise Stefanik's days representing the 21st CD are nearing their end — with a menagerie of candidates jostling for position in a special election. Lucy Hodgman reports. www.timesunion.com/capitol/arti...
Stefanik's vote on House budget bill may clear way for U.N. exit
Stefanik’s final confirmation as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations will likely be delayed until after two April 1 special elections in Florida.

To all the people in eastern North America in the path of this snowstorm:

You can and should expect your city to plow sidewalks (and bike lanes) like they do for roads.

The technology exists, many cities do it (including Montreal & Ottawa). Choosing not to is a middle finger to pedestrians.

I can’t believe it - after years of advocacy, exclusionary zoning has ended in Cambridge.

We just passed the single most comprehensive rezoning in the US—legalizing multifamily housing up to 6 stories citywide in a Paris style

Denver: “The average rent of an apartment in the 4th quarter was nearly $1850—about $70 less than…the same period in 2023. For apartment owners, however, vacancies climbed as developers delivered some 20,000 units last year leading to more competition which means dropping prices to attract renters.”
