Maybe if language learning models and generative models weren’t marketed as AI, people would be less cynical.

Actual AI still seems limited to sci-fi (mostly the dystopian kind).

The massive energy consumption of the current stuff is also alarming.

The long term goal definitely shouldn’t be to get everyone to spend 30% of their income on housing. If we can get back to actual abundance, people should have options to spend even less than that.

Yea, I get that flooding the market with used Teslas lowers the market value and may slow new Tesla sales by some amount. However, I’d wager that most Tesla owners that bought in the last couple years owe more than the cars are worth. Don’t cripple your finances to maybe mildly inconvenience Musk’s.

They are marketing AI’s huge power drain as an opportunity to develop more efficient devices. Avoiding any talk of how little benefit AI will provide relative to the 1/4 of the world’s energy they want to feed it. It’s very weird green washing.
