When AI was added to a tool for sinus surgery: “Cerebrospinal fluid leaked from one patient’s nose. In another… a surgeon mistakenly punctured the base of a patient’s skull. In two other cases, patients suffered strokes after a major artery was accidentally injured”

A fun thing about being no contact with shitty family is that you discover shitty stuff they’ve done well after the fact— like they literally knocked down the house and built something shitty and ugly in its place.

Most Heated Rivalry coverage has been focused on what young people, particularly younger straight women, think. I cover aging and decided to ask older gay men about their thoughts.

I found: A founder of what may have been the first gay hockey blog, a wedding cake shaped like a Zamboni and more.
Older gay men built their own hockey fandom. Then came 'Heated Rivalry.'
The hit show is an unexpected invitation for some older gay hockey fans to reflect on love, acceptance and coming out.

Isaac Asimov was a founder of modern science fiction. His work and ideas inform almost everything.

He was also a serial sexual harasser, something confirmed by multiple first-person accountings from members of East Coast fandom.

Finding the Publishing World in the Epstein Files

the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

"I was told you're a monster," the hero said.

"So they say," said the monster.

"But you're beautiful!"

"Thank you."

"Have you always been a monster?"

"Heh. I was a young maiden. But I did something forbidden."

"And became a monster?"

"Got named a monster."

"What did you do?"

"I hit back."

ICYMI, Gai*man is slinking out of the shadows and posting again, trying to scuttle his way back into the public's good graces.

Please take care of yourselves, believe women, believe survivors, and fuck that guy.

Faking an Epstein email so you can make a dig at someone who’s already in the files is a supreme loser move and fucking disrespectful to all of the JE survivors and all of the people who are wading through this morass of sewage to try and do something meaningful with it.

I can't overrecommend this incredible paper about water skaters (genus Halobates). No one knows how they evolved. No one knows what they eat. They are superhydrophobic, which means water LITERALLY CANNOT WET THEM. Perhaps we should call them anti-water skaters? 🌊🧪

Why did only one genus of insects, Halobates, take to the high seas?
Oceans cover over 70% of the earth’s surface and house a dizzying array of organisms, including five species of the peppercorn-sized ocean-skater Halobates, which live exclusively at the ocean surface...

Friends it’s called food contamination.

Don’t do it
I just found out that my spouse makes a PB&J sandwich using the same knife for both toppings, instead of one knife for each separate container.

We've been married for over 16 years. I cannot believe I just discovered this NOW.

Is it 1 knife or 2 when making PB&J? Chime in!

New planet just dropped and it

1) is almost exactly Earth-sized

2) has a year that's almost exactly 1 Earth year.

3) orbits a star that is not a 💢temperamental little shit M-dwarf 💢but is instead a 🧡 good orange boi 🧡

Open up this picture fully.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

If someone in your home buys a box of chocolates for the neighbors but the neighbors are never home to receive them, then you may eat them, right?

After how many days?

Three? Four?

(It’s See’s if that makes a difference)

These photos do not communicate how claustrophobic Newgrange is. It’s single file to get through the passage and you have to crouch because the people who built it were shorter than us. That aspect of the design makes the solstice light even more remarkable.

(Not for anyone with claustrophobia)
On the winter solstice, the Sun rises and shines down the length of the 5,100-year-old Newgrange passage tomb in County Meath, Ireland.

Remarkable designing and implementation by the Neolithic engineers who built it.
