I've always had a deep love & appreciation for boxing (Watched Wide World of Sports every Saturday with my grandfather).

That's why I'm humbled & honored that
@NoirBristol
just published my story "THE LAST WALTZ".

If you have time, please check it out.

Michael Downing's prose always comes at you with the urgency of a rush of blood to the head, but that's especially true here. A great boxing story. Published by @bristolnoir.bsky.social.

The Last Waltz by Michael Downing » Bristol Noir
As soon as the Cuban hammers me with a short right hook, I’m pretty sure I’m fucked. The punch catches a soft spot in my ribs, taking everything out of me. My breath. The fight. The will to keep going...

Bristol Noir (@bristolnoir.bsky.social) was nice enough to publish one of my crime stories today. It’s called “The Perfectionists.”

If you have a spare minute or two, give it a read.

This is a prime example of how to build up to a dreadful reckoning.

A splendid little slice of darkness told without undue embellishment. Pour a cup of coffee, grab a cookie, and take a little walk through the garden. Pay special mind to the roses. They are lovely this time of year.

I had my first publication last week with @bristolnoir.bsky.social, so please forgive the giddy self-promotion.

The Crow's Portion is a weird anti-fascist mix of Poe and Dashiell Hammet probably best described as a 'Masque of the Red Harvest'.
