Yesterday, Reuters unveiled a report in which they discovered that Israel re-purposed armored personnel carriers into truck bombs, loading them with up to 3 tons of explosives and then using them to destroy residential buildings in Gaza.

In the weeks before the ceasefire, Israel deployed a new weapon: Armoured Personnel Carriers repurposed as explosive-laden bombs.

Oh my goodness, this Wall Street Journal piece about Trump's ailing health that includes an interview with him (gift link). There are a number of ridiculous details in it and I'll put a few of them in this thread. (1/6)
Exclusive | As Signs of Aging Emerge, Trump Responds With Defiance
In an interview, President Trump—the oldest man to assume the office—said he has eschewed some advice from his doctors and regrets getting advanced imaging.

Since there seems to be a flurry of Yglesias discourse on here today, here is my take. He recently joined the moral panic over teaching about race--on the side of the racists. And he gets critical race theory wrong because he superficially engages with it.
A Tent Big Enough for Bigots but Too Small for Critical Race Theory
Like so many of critical race theory's detractors, Matthew Yglesias fails to engage with the actual scholarship.

A story that stays with me

A child nearly survived his cancer
But he contracted chickenpox & died

This is far less common after the chickenpox vaccine reduced the chance of individuals having severe disease & reduced community spread

I have been asked to share my theory about Jesus and "the Pharisees." I have a very specific one.

I'm doing so. But it's gonna take three posts to do it properly, and will involve a lot of comparing Gospel passages to Rabbinic texts.

And whoever they go after next, we’ll defend them, too.

Think about this. Did you hear trans panic headlines in the 2000s? No.

Conservatives weren’t “worried” about trans people until the day they lost on Marriage Equality.

Once they realized most of us are just fine with gay marriage, they needed a new wedge issue and started attacking trans people.
I’m rewatching Mad About You & theres a joke where Ursula the ditzy waitress mistakes a recurring character for a post-op trans woman and immediately talks about how great she looks now, then deadnames her as part of a running joke at Ursula’s expense. In 1995. The great trans scare is manufactured.

ICE were not ever good. It was a profoundly evil organization when it began under Bush, when it was expanded upon in scope by Obama, when its cruelty increased under Trump 1.0, and their efficiency became greater courtesy of Biden and now at its worst, thanks to Trump 2.0's return.

Exactly. It's disingenuous to call it a purity test to say "You shouldn't be beholden to right-wing billionaires pushing right-wing policies and right-wing candidates."

No, Progressives Don’t Want “Purity.” They Just Want Some Courage.
When left-leaning Democrats complain about corporate influence, it’s not a “purity test.” It’s a demand for a better politics.

I'm so sick of y'all in my mentions with this talking point, just stop.

PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD RENT. Half of renters are paying over 30% of their income on rent, another quarter are paying over 50%!!!

People need homes they can afford!
