Ah, I was hoping you'd gotten the bug. There are ways to optimize an FDM mini print but it will never be as good as resin.

You 3D print this?

What you DID do has been fantastic.

Yeah pretty sure this is a new phenomenon.

Academia embraces the web but this seems to be pushing it.

I left academia in 94, but there was a ton of interest in the proto WWW, mostly for sharing research. Gopher, ftp, Archie, and the very first iterations of the Web were all grabbed onto quickly, at least by the tech savvy.

...but I doubt it's anything like AI-mania. And also no uncritically.

I've felt this way about Revolver since my teens and am glad it's becoming more the majority view. But Pepper is still something special IMHO (as is Magical Mystery Tour, but that's a hill I fight on close to alone).

I know, right!

Is it the butchering of the original, the self aggrandizing, the tediousness, the completely generic synth backing track, or the racial slurs that really put it over the top? Hard to say!

I can't say if it's better or worse because I haven't heard his Heroes

...but his Anarchy in the UK is literally the worst cover I've heard.

Not sure I have the stomach to listen to another of his.

And Who is also definitely best as you describe, when it's about other people.

This is a lot less problematic if you don't care about continuity. I'm all for endless reinventions rather than trying to suggest that the same character just keeps going forever.

Doctor Who is a special case in that regard, but reboots do wonders for most of these characters.

I have all kinds of problems with the movie and think it was a real waste of potential, but I'm happy that scene exists and call it out as the best part of the movie when it comes up.

And while you can get to something close to objective truth by taking the average of several different subjective, biased, attempts to tell ths truth, you can't get there by taking the average of truth and falsehood.

Same! Lost count frankly.

You're on the @500songspodcast.bsky.social train, of course?

Can't disagree but I love em both.

My hot take is Teenage of the Year and Last Splash are even better than any Pixies releases.

The good news has always been that Trumpism at its peak was still pretty unpopular and likely unsustainable electorally. The bad news is all the work going into making the "electorally" part moot.

Now that MAGA is in decline I worry (slightly) less.
