Dear parents, when you’re sitting in a cold, dark parking lot with a lot of other parents waiting for your kids, this is what parking lights are for. Use them. There’s no point in us all blinding each other.

I’m going to have come to grips with the fact that my Bears may actually be for real this season.

UConn beats Duke. That’s not unusual, but doing it in football is new. 🎉

Sad to see that Uni Watch will soon be taken off the web. Hopefully the writer can take the archives to a new endeavor!

This upcoming Apple Reminders feature is one I’ve wanted for years, and seriously considered vibe coding an app to make this happen. High hopes for this one: iOS 26.2 Adds Alarms for Reminders

I’m sorry Toronto.

But it was an epic World Series.

My perhaps controversial assessment is that when you share the propaganda of your enemies to call it out or to mock it… you’re still spreading their propaganda and maybe doing exactly what they hope you’ll do.

As a neutral, I both want to see the Jays wrap it up with a come back in the bottom of the 9th, while also wanting the baseball season to last one more game.

Scariest thing I saw driving my girls tonight for Halloween was a house with a lit Christmas tree inside.

Such a beautiful New England fall day. Wish I could sit on my deck in the sun without the drone of industrial-grade leafblowers echoing across the little valley we sit at the bottom of.

Listening to some Jack DeJohnette this morning, in honor of one of the men on jazz’s Mount Rushmore, who passed yesterday.

Holy crap. An hour ago I asked Claude if it had an interactive voice mode, like I’d used with Gemini, and it responded “no”. And then, just now, I mistakenly hit a button that wasn’t there an hour ago, and Claude started talking out loud to me. 😮

Remember April 2009 when about 250,000 people took to America’s streets in Tea Party rallies and the media was like “oh man, the Dems are in trouble?” Approximately 28X as many people took to the streets to protest Trump yesterday. Didn’t even make the NYT front page.
In April of 2009 I observed the Tea Party rally in Salem. As this front page story says, there were a couple hundred people there. This past weekend in Salem there were roughly 2-3000 people at the Hands Off rally. Yet the Tea Party coverage seemed to take that event far more seriously.

I love the way my dog plays tug-of-war with me. We’ll be tugging, and she’ll “win” pulling the toy out of my hand, and within 2 seconds, she’s putting the toy back in my hand, because the tugging—not the winning—is the good part.

Just noting that this reporting is from the correspondent for that radical rag...The Economist
I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

In protest of all the day to day stupidity we are all dealing with, I’m sticking it to the man. I just took a Tylenol.

As potentially problematic as a CCP-controlled TikTok algorithm could be, given the slow-moving dystopia unleashed by the algorithms of Facebook/Instagram, and (X née Twitter), it very well could be more dangerous under the control of the friends of this administration.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion, after getting $1.2 trillion richer over the past year alone.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country is getting squeezed by tariffs and high prices for groceries, utilities, and health care.

The system is broken.

"We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both." –Justice Louis Brandeis

Words spoken many years ago that are just as relevant today.

We must continue the fight to get big money out of politics.
