Amen to that.
I think it would make a big difference in our health if we banned Pharma ads from America like the rest of the world does.

The wave of anti-migrant politics we are seeing across the West belies a simple truth:

Our welfare states & pensions cannot be sustained without immigrant workers.

Africans should rightly have power in this dynamic. They don’t because of persistent racist structures in our visa & asylum systems.
Sending workers abroad has been at the core of development strategies of Asian countries like the Philippines and Bangladesh for decades, but it has not been widely embraced in sub-Saharan Africa. That is starting to change reut.rs/42RVP0i 1/6
Insight: In search of economic boost, some African countries send workers abroad
They line up by the hundreds to meet recruiters at schools in provincial towns and convention halls in large cities, some carrying advanced diplomas, others with only a primary education to their name.

Because right now. It just feels like we’re living under the Tories again.

Except without hope that there’s something a bit better round the corner.

And that’s not a good place. #r4today

I am over 50, and in the generation of "bloody immigrants!", I think that we should have far more immigration because, jobs need filling, more people earning = tax = more money for essential services + it enriches our lives and culture. There is no downside.

Canada was amongst the first to our aid when we were under attack by the last lot of Nazis and she was with us to the end when together we beat the bastards. I suggest you three remember that in your dealings with the mafia boss Trump and his gangsters.

On Sky News when the last net immigration statistics were published I was asked about - what else - the small boats & explained that people coming on small boats represent LESS THAN 5% of the immigration figures.

All the while? Images of the boats arriving played right next to my face. 🤦‍♀️

I actually think this is a big, big problem.

The media has completely defaulted to using images of boat arrivals to illustrate ANY story related to migration.

The sub-heading clearly states the migrants in question largely came here on visas, not boats.

I've seen this happen over & over again.
And they've updated the headline to transfer the responsibility away from themselves and to the report's publishers.

And not only that, the photo they've used on the article is that of actual documented asylum seekers!

The good news. (Such as it is)

Most people in the UK can see that is disgusting.
Can see it for what it is: a concentration camp.
An incalculable cost to the American people & a clear declaration of intent to dehumanise & subject foreigners to human rights abuses.

The Greens, the LibDems, Plaid Cymru, all did better at the last election than ever.

They all have very good, progressive immigration policies.

Nobody has a clue what they are though. The media only GAF about anti-migrant politics.
surely the disillusionment comes in part from the media not covering Green or LibDem policy, but amplifying RW ideaology? A balanced media, focussed on facts would greatly help
