So my book about Howard Zinn’s outsized life comes out August 2026. That’s now official. If you want me to come to your bookstore/library/community center/house party to talk about Zinn’s life and and what teaches us about how to beat back the bastards, please email edgeofsports@gmail.com

Imagine #hamont
Iowa City made buses free in August 2023 with a goal of lowering emissions and encouraging people to take public transit.

Now ridership is up, traffic is down, and the program is extremely popular.

So popular that the City Council has voted to extend it for another year.

Cumulatively, the Doug Ford government’s approach to nature is both confusing and contradictory. It’s valuable until it’s in the way. Natural spaces for the sake of nature isn't their goal.

Here's me connecting some dots:

Humans will NEVER colonize another planet. Never.

If we can’t even agree to do the minimum to keep Earth habitable, there’s no way in hell we’ll cooperate to make another planet habitable.

Why are we hearing about building more pipelines? Do they make sense for Canada's economy? And what about our emissions goals?

We mapped 800,000 kilometres of pipelines in Canada and tried to get to the bottom of these questions in our latest explainer video. #cdnpoli

Good morning @matthewremski.bsky.social ! Any chance you or the other @conspirituality.bsky.social hosts will cover the ostrich cull in BC? Seems to be yet another perfect convergence of the anti-vax/science and anti-government crowds.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Hey folks, this isn't me! I don't have an active public Facebook page right now (though this is making me think I need one).

They're taking my work and photos.

I've tried reporting it, but it didn't work (thanks Meta).

So if you guys see any posts from this account please report it!

I'm writing a piece on extremism and the military and I have never run into so many people wanting to be off the record before. This plus thr fact that so many of us have been pushed to the margins is bad bad bad.
Every single journalist with expertise in extremism I know has been fired or their publication has folded.

Not a coincidence, of course. Grateful for their work, but unfortunately for almost all of us, this work will now have to be the side hustle.

Even a big far-right vote couldn’t give the far-right total control, because the Dutch democracy promotes cooperation.

Here in the UK, just one-third of the vote could give Nigel Farage a huge majority of MPs.

Our democracy isn't fit for 21st-century politics. We need Proportional Representation.

The top three things Jesus was on about were feeding the hungry, healing the sick, and welcoming the stranger. Rich men have convinced so-called Christians to starve the hungry, gut health care, and deport the stranger to enrich themselves. It’s astoundingly anti-Christ.
