Trump full-on accusing Zelensky of starting the war Russia launched against Ukraine in 2014, before Zelensky was even president, and escalated in 2022 with it unprovoked, full-blown invasion. Not a single criticism toward Putin, a day after the deadliest single attack of the war by Russia this year.
Trump has fully turned on Zelenskyy: "He's always looking to purchase missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you gotta know you can win a war. You don't start a war against somebody that's 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles."

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he is genuinely unaware of the fact that Russia doesn't fully control the "annexed regions". It's not Witkoff's fault, though, all his briefs are in Russian, and that is a hard language to master
