Professor, grandmother, lover of dogs (furry and under-), outdoor life, cooking and eating good food, and trying to do better when I know better.
The littlest granddaughter and I had Christmas dinner in style last night with my grandmother's China and my mom's tablecloth.

My partner and his adult daughter are supporting his son through chemo this holiday. I am home with the 3 year old granddaughter and senior dogs--trying to make things special yet normal for all. May all who are just trying to cope with the season feel some measure of peace.

Finished my last class exam today. 90% finished in 1 hour. The other 9% finished before 1 5 hours. Then, I wait for the final 1% to finish and end up chasing them around the hall for their exam. Every. Single. Year.

This is the apple dumpling recipe if anyone wants to make them. Super easy to make! Although coring the apples was a challenge for me. I should invest in a doodad to make it easier.

The Fraser Institute published a study on the fiscal cost of Canada’s low-carbon economy -- one that (shocker!) found lots of money spent on relatively few jobs.

I fact checked it for them. It didn't go well.

Lies, damn lies, and Fraser Institute studies
Maybe they didn't expect anyone to fact check their work. I did it anyways.

My Auntie Betty passed away peacefully in her sleep. I have lost another anchor in my safe harbour. She was kind and compassionate to all and she represented the woman I strive to be. Rest well Auntie. This world is lesser without you on it.

Holy mendacious framing, Batman!
He did not clear Danielle Smith or her government of wrongdoing. He very clearly made it explicit that they wouldn't provide evidence that might implicate them.

Exclusive: When publishing heir John Noffo Kahn bought his Vermont estate for $18 million in 2008, he set a state record. Now he’s aiming to break that record again, this time by listing the roughly 400-acre property for more than double what he paid.

I really don't understand US politics. Gerrymandering is okay for GOP, not for DEM? Pushing through massive bills good if GOP, not DEM. A DEM takes a rude mysogenistic photo with a woman--he must leave politics. GOP--there are no boundaries or limits. And--no one seems to see the hypocrisy? Weird

I just read that a lawyer said that Ghislane Maxwell would "welcome any relief" from her incarceration. Really. I wish her ALL the 'relief' she offered the children who were repeatedly exploited. F#ck her relief.

For those of you attending academic conferences in the U.S., after October 1, 2025 please note the following:
Tucked away in the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' is the requirement that all visitors to the US must pay $250 just to enter the country starting 1 October! For a family of 5 that's $1250! I doubt this will help America's crashing tourism business which is down 10% already since January

You are 1,000 to 30,000 times more likely to die from measles than from the measles vaccine.

Do with that what you will.
That’s science. Math. And from developed countries.

Just had surgery here in Ontario, Canada. I was diagnosed, treated, and recovered in less than 24 hours. My out-of-pocket costs, combined with my hospital bill was $0. Thankful for socialized Healthcare here and grateful that anyone else would have the same.
