My column this week: I always wanted a full-size arcade machine, but this is even better

Basically a love letter to the best arcade game ever (Bubble Bobble – don’t @ me) and how the new Evercade Alpha properly scratches that itch. www.stuff.tv/features/i-a...

Evercade Alpha Taito Bartop Arcade puts my favourite arcade game on my desk and proves I don’t need a mansion to live the arcade dream.

Football Manager 26 has a good game hidden somewhere deep beneath the awful new UX and corresponding bugs. Maybe they get it right next year? One can hope. Meanwhile, this article tries to explain how something like this can happen.

Football Manager 26 and When User Experience Goes Wrong
At launch, Football Manager 26 players discovered the UX was only just warming up. We asked an expert: why do devs leave UX until extra time?

Italy had never lost a World Cup qualifier at home until tonight … against Norway. I can’t even begin to describe how insane that is.

But World Cup 26 here we go.

The Black Ops 7 campaign is absolute trash for solo players. No pause, no difficulty setting, always online and bullet spongy enemies tailored for 4 players.

Not to mention the story and gameplay is pretty bad too, making the awful MWIII campaign look like a classic in comparison.

Stay away.

Still can’t believe the 49ers fired him back in the day, instead of the talentless hack of a GM they had at the time.
After tonight's win, Jim Harbaugh now has the 9th-highest winning percentage in NFL history. He's one spot ahead of George Halas.

61-28-1 (.683).

Based on the rumors, this seems to be a Battlefield flavored Warzone. With the latter being crap for the last few years, this will probably capture a lot of that audience.
Battlefield 6's battle royale mode is real, and it's called REDSEC, is free-to-play, and launches tomorrow. gameinformer.com/2025/10/27/b...

It’s fascinating that the Microsoft CFO doesn’t understand that a higher profit margin does not necessarily equal higher profits. It may actually lead to less profits, or even losses as sales plummet. If this is kept up I don’t see a bright future for Xbox. www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/...
Inside Xbox’s profit pressure — How a 30% margin target is reshaping everything from studios to strategy (and upsetting fans)
Microsoft CFO Amy Hood has forced Xbox to deliver an industry margin far beyond what is typical for gaming in general, which will devastate the business if not rectified soon.

«A House of Dynamite» is the scariest movie I’ve seen in a long time.

The #BF6 campaign is indeed very mid. But I'm just happy we have a new linear 2010-era style army dudes (and dudettes) campaign at all, even if it doesn't match something like BF3.

My disappointment comes from that Vince Zampella are generally not responsible for bad campaigns. So I expected more.

#BF6 like the beta have a high CPU usage, but this in User.cfg in the BF install folder fixes it:

Thread.ProcessorCount 8
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 8
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 16

Swap 8 and 16 out with your CPU's taskbar details:

#Battlefield with another shitty launch? Started at 200k + in the queue but after getting in I was thrown out and back to 400k + in the queue.

I’ve had and loved Game Pass Ultimate since its inception, but there’s no way it’s worth the new monthly cost. What a weird decision by MS, especially with the new handheld coming out as well. It’s like they want all their products to fail.

The aim assist with a controller in Call of Duty is now off the charts. Playing with m/k puts you in such a huge disadvantage, so bye CoD and hello Battlefield.

I already forgot how absurd the Call of Duty launcher is, as I had to start and restart it 5-6 times just to get to the beta.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is really good, probably the best «survivors» game out there so far. Great mechanics and upgrades, with tons of content, and already has a solid lore to build on.

And it definitely has that one more run addictiveness to it like all the good rogue-like games have.

One other thing I'm probably in the minority on is that I'd love a remaster of Starbreeze's Syndicate. Just updated graphics and quality of life changes. Especially the gfx is typical blurry early 2010s with too much lens flare.

The game itself is great, especially the separate co-op missions.

I see Borderlands 4 have gone full open seamless world. I'm not a fan, as usually open worlds become chores and not experiences, with awful pacing and copy-pasted missions to pad the game. Just see any Ubisoft release.

But, somehow, people love it, even though you could say it's a far cry from BL1.

The Gears trilogy was my favorite series on the 360, but man, Reloaded feels clunky on pc with m/k. Definitely tailored for using a controller.

Interesting to see Laura Fryer with a Youtube channel after 30 or so years in the industry (MS, Xbox, WB, Oculus, etc.). Most of the videos are topical but I love that she always sprinkle them with war stories from her past. www.youtube.com/@laurafryer6...
