Oh, I assumed this was caused by a reboot due to windows 11 forcing an update. At least, that's why my BIOS was mad at me at 2am.

Two things I should have done earlier:
1. Manually set my "active hours" to overlap when I'm sleeping.
2. Disable wake timers in my power configuration so if the computer's asleep, it won't wake up to update itself.

I think the Famicom port and the MD port were both under the same publisher? They seemed to have more or less the same level changes, but the MD one had to recreate everything from scratch. Basically the hardest segment at the end of most levels was removed or altered.

Maybe since the internet we understand that these "unpopular" alternative hobbies are much more common than they used to feel. Connecting across distances we learn that a lot more people are into the nerdy thing than we used to think? Less desire to hide one's interests when we know we're not alone.

I've heard that "nerd" has been redefined now as someone who is very overtly a fan of something. Conspicuous consumerism. I'm way into this and I want people to know it.

In the past meaning, I don't think it was conspicuous at all? Often it referred to a hidden passion, for something not popular...
