Exhausted critical thinker.

Rarely shocked, often appalled, perpetually puzzled.

Life goals:
1. Decrease the rate at which I say “I told you so”.
2. Stop telling them so.

How the hell is this happening? *silent screams*

I am shocked at the number of people talking about how Trump’s executive orders are illegal as if that is a deterrent. I don’t even know how to wrap my mind around this.

Instead of the pardon nonsense, the legacy media should be covering the North Carolina Supreme Court recount where the Republican candidate is seeking to disqualify more than 60,000 lawful ballots and to disenfranchise entirely certain dependents of overseas and military voters.

Jeff Bezos and I were both in the news today.

Bezos is making nice with Trump.
Kash Patel has said that I am an enemy of the GOP.

He owns the Washington Post.
I founded Democracy Docket.

Both rely on paid subscriptions. Which do you want to support? www.democracydocket.com/member-me/

In the Battle of Thermopylae (480BC), a small force of Greek soldiers fought valiantly against a mighty Persian army, knowing they could never win.

Their task was to slow down the Persian advance until reinforcements across Greece could be mustered.

45 and the GOP use shock/ hate to distract from bigger stories.

Example: In September the “cat eating” lie outshined House Democrats exposing the GOP’s support of Project 2025. The bathroom bill & other tactics follow this same pattern.

Congressional Record:

The bathroom bill is a dead cat the GOP tossed onto the table: a calculated distraction. Our democracy is being dismantled, freedoms erased, and power stolen. Stop staring at the corpse. The house is burning, and they’re locking the goddamned doors. Wake up and look around you. We need to fight back

Just absorbing the fact that the first order of business in the new QAnon-inflected MAGA Republican era is to demand that Congress bury its report on sex trafficking and drug allegations against a Republican member of Congress who they're trying to promote to higher office.

So tired of saying the same things (low hanging fruit-type things) to people with power who have no interest or courage in making things right. The system/institution isn’t a mystery that no one can do anything about. It’s people, it’s people with power to change practices & policies.

For me, resistance includes refusing to engage with hateful content on all platforms.

Collectively disengaging can help demonetize and limit “that” content.

See it, report it, block them. ≤ 3 seconds.

Zero engagement. 0 saving 0 sharing - because screen recordings work just fine.

To suggest we should yield even a little to Trump’s odious politics is unacceptable. Even if we did, it would never be enough.

I, like many of you, have been contemplating our predicament since election night.

We are in a losing war for our democracy and I'm not sure we collectively know who our true adversary is.

It's not the voting blocks...white women, Latinos, Gen X. It's not MAGA. It's not even Trump.

They abandoned their constitutional duty when they nominated him.

You can’t expect integrity from people who:

- Aided in disinformation and misinformation attacks against U.S. citizens
- Pressured media outlets to misinform the public
- Back an insurrectionist for POTUS

How are we this stupid?
Trump only has the authority to install all these dangerously incompetent cabinet picks if the Senate grants him the authority by abandoning their duty to the Constitution.
