it's almost like, and bear with me on this, public opinion might move on these issues if there was a whole network of politicians, pundits, and aligned media doing everything in their power to highlight the abuses and unpopular aspects of the deportation regime instead of triangulating on it
WaPo: "Trump’s migrant roundups have a crucial ally: Public opinion"

Paragraph 5: "White House has said some of the deportees did not have criminal records and have not been charged with any crimes"

Poll headline is based on: 57% say people who haven't broken laws in U.S. should NOT be deported

when thing that popped out for me when I was drafting this thread that I hadn't really thought about before was how many times the ongoing constitutional crisis was a *live political issue* and even campaigned on.
telecom immunity

the continued existence of guantanamo bay

citizens united and the open flow of money into politics

the constitutionlization & legalization of most forms of political bribery and influence

gutting of the voting rights act

extreme partisan gerrymandering

Mike has been a friend of mine since we were young reporters at the @washingtonpost.com in the 1980s. He brims with talent, integrity and commitment to the truth. This is exactly what I expected and he had hoped he could stave off, which is a trash move by trash people. Throw them out.

He was not dead.

This is blood-boiling. Charles Rogers was awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam after being wounded three times leading the defense of a position.

Google his name and the entry below comes up. When you click, you'll see the page has been deleted and the URL changed to include "DEI medal."

It’s unreal - the DOD deleted its page for Charles Calvin Rodgers, a Medal of Honor recipient who was wounded three times while defending against three assaults on his base in Vietnam. Now the URL includes “DEI Medal of Honor.” There’s something about Rodgers I don’t even have to tell you
