Look, I’m out of practice, this stuff is going to be all over the place for a while.
An exciting snapshot of the complete moral failing of US foreign policy over the last 20+ years.

And everything our government is doing in response to the DC shooting is making that failing worse.

Well, there goes my kids’ hopes for running for office. We call my wife’s best friends their “aunts.”

I’m sorry for this terrible lie.

Every fucking generation, the one that was labeled as “lazy” points at the next one and says, “no those guys are.”

Anyone who says the left has to abandon protecting the trans community in order to win votes is simply surrendering, and it immediately undercuts the legitimacy of any other “resistance” rhetoric they spew.

Trans right are human rights. It’s that simple.
The FBI is preparing to label transgender people as “violent extremists” in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s murder:

Honestly, I look at the responses to this and really wonder if our society as a whole is so far gone we shouldn’t try to save it.

He’s not praising the guy, he specifically says his ideas were terrible. That doesn’t mean his murder isn’t a tragedy for his family. Both points can be true.

Hard to overstate the harm done to society by shutting down so much of the reporting and research on online extremism.

Just as with refusing to allow research into guns as a public health crisis we are knowingly, but blindly, walking into a very dark moment.

I don’t know, maybe he didn’t know what Pritzker was going to announce. But even so, holy shit do look inept suggesting there’s common ground with someone sending troops into cities and states that don’t want them.
Hakeem Jeffries: "Donald Trump promised that he would lower housing costs on day one. Here's a suggestion for the Trump administration: try to legislate, and maybe we can find common ground in order to get something done for the American people."

Even if true, the maniacs around him will continue their work and …

I’m not confident the Dems will do what’s necessary to fracture his base. He’s a folk hero to them, Vance can’t hold it together with his damp paper bag personality.

But “civility” will get in the way.

Saying this as a former (and maybe future) consultant, the best step the Dems could make is to …

Fire all the consultants.

This is all correct. The only thing I’d add is that some states have literally made it legal to run down protestors with your car.

For a nation that likes to wave the First Amendment in everyone else’s face, we’ve done a terrible job actually protecting it in the last decade.

Who is writing this crap? It’s unbelievable to me how they continue to deliver such limp corporate-speak messaging right now, especially given how much that contributes to their deep unpopularity with even their core voters.
Jeffries on Trump planning a military crackdown in Chicago: "We should continue to support local law enforcement and not simply allow Donald Trump to play games with the lives of the American people as part of his effort to manufacture a crisis and create a distraction because he's deeply unpopular"

Every day, a new opportunity to be deeply disappointed in our media as someone who believes they have a critical and fundamental role to play in our society.

Ugh. I guess I have to begrudgingly appreciate that Newsom is stating the reality so plainly. Since the rest of them seem stuck in a past that no longer exists.
Newsom: "He doesn't play by a different set of rules. He doesn't believe in the rules. As a consequence, we need to disabuse ourselves of the way things have been done. It's not enough to just hold hands, have a candlelight vigil, talk about way the world should be...we have got to meet fire w/fire"

Maron gets it, and not just because he was a podcast pioneer. People want to feel like you’re talking with them not at them. That you have a POV you believe in, not a set of talking points.

Breaking through is not that hard, you just can’t seem like you’ve been media trained to death, just be you.
I have really really enjoyed watching @marcmaron.bsky.social dismantle the fashy apologist Rogan bro comedy omniverse on his new special podcast tour

The second time I’ve had to like Billy Long. The first was when he shut up a Laura Loomer protest in a House committee meeting by going full auctioneer.

IRS Commissioner Billy Long was fired hours after he refused to furnish additional confidential taxpayer information on suspected undocumented immigrants to the Department of Homeland Security.

I remain flabbergasted that Dems aren’t out there talking about this administration being pro cancer. I mean, every health decision they make results in … more cancer and more death.
And mRNA research has generated at least two potential cures for previously untreatable cancers (kidney and pancreas) earlier this year. Kakistocracy, folks!

Why again should Democrats not fight for transgender rights? How it’s a “side issue,” a “distraction”?

Transgender rights are a civil rights issue. And if you wish your political leaders would just stop talking about it, then know where you would have stood on civil rights issues in 50’s and ‘60s.

This is the inside of a Japanese internment camp in California during WWII. It looks shockingly like the camp in Florida, but with more space and light.

We are repeating one of the most shameful and horrific mistakes our nation has ever made with Alligator Aushwitz.

You don’t actually have to point to Nazi Germany as a prior example here.

We, the US, have done this before. To Japanese residents and citizens of Japanese descent in WWII. We should know better than this because WE’VE already done it.

We’re just too ashamed to remind ourselves.
