This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

This guy is in Minneapolis standing before an American citizen in an SUV.

The only reason he's brandishing an assault rifle is because he wants the people he's purportedly there protecting to feel terrorized by his presence.

This is not protection. This is occupation.

This is excellent coverage: it gives readers context beyond the specific incident, showing a pattern of excessive force, and also documents that DHS keeps using the same and increasingly debunked explanations. Much better than both sidesing the shooting.
Important context for claims that the Nicole Renee Good was obstructing/assaulting officers before she was shot & killed:

The last time immigration agents shot a woman (Marimar Martinez, Chicago) they made similar claims. Prosecutors have already dropped the charges www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news...

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

NEW: Critics have likened the lung float test to a witch trial.

The premise: If a baby was born alive and then died, air from its first breaths would cause the lungs to float in water.

If the baby was stillborn, lack of air would cause the lungs to sink.
Medical Examiners Warn That Controversial Lung Float Test Could Be Dangerous
An exam meant to determine whether a baby was born dead or alive is of “questionable value,” the National Association of Medical Examiners cautions. The paper follows a ProPublica report on how the test had been used against women accused of murder.

We found that agents had detained >170 Americans this year. More than 20 citizens said they were held for at least a day without being able to contact a lawyer or their loved ones.

The foreign-born fraction of the US population was 15% in 1890, and in 1910. America thrived.

That fraction is 16% now.

The difference is that in 1890/1910, >96% of immigrants were from Europe or Canada. Today that's less than 10%.

It's best to be honest about one one is actually afraid of.
Rep. Kat Cammarck: "Today, one in six people in the US is foreign born. That quite frankly is not sustainable to maintain a culture that we are known for here in the United States."

Whatever else is in the deal, agreeing to merely have a vote on ACA is a fig leaf. Even if it passes the Senate, it won't in the House, which also makes it an easy yes vote for the Senate Rs who might want to, defusing it as an attack on them.

It is a stupid ask even on Team Schumer's own terms.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

4. Obama launched the renovation of the U.S. stockpile. It's not complete; timeline stretches into the 2040s ($ is headed for $2T).
None of this is correct. Good thing we have a steady hand on "nuclear"

It's odd for me to realize that my first-year undergraduates are at an age where they don't really remember that there was a form of US politics prior to Donald Trump. For them, Trump is not an aberration from the normal course of political discourse, but just how US politics is done.
