1) confidently walk into the elevator, go with the people who get in to whatever floor, then you can come back down to 8 from the floors without assistance.

2) take the escalator to the second floor, ignore the signs, look right, then take the winding escalators on the right wall up to 8.

Also don't think a lot of artists will open with "post online right away!" Cool if you do but it's not even a consideration when talking about learning to draw.

I had a dude who kept popping up in my comments until I gave up and blocked him, arguing that there was no point in trying to make art without "innate talent" and everyone else should just use AI. He straight up refused to believe that everyone who makes good art began by making bad art.

In Pixar's Soul there's a scene where the protagonist gets what he hopes is his big break, playing a jazz set with a great artist, and then he asks "What now?" and she says "You come back tomorrow." Or don't.

That's it. You do your thing, and if you're lucky you get to do it some more.

The great old comedy writer Larry Gelbart said that your style is formed by what you can’t do. I wish more people understood that. That and the Martha Graham quote about keeping the channel open.

This has been said a million different times and ways and it never seems to penetrate but I’ll try again: Using AI to “do” art isn’t possible. Art is not the process of coming up with a good idea to get started and then executing it flawlessly in the style of someone you admire.

if you don’t love the process of making art, including all of its failures and frustrations, you should do something else.
