Easily the most self-consciously political performance of pop culture I’ve ever seen. Whoever directed that knew *exactly* what they were doing.

Like I couldn’t think of a more conscious rejection of the fascist aesthetic than this production.

every time I make a reply to someone I get a couple blocks which is funny, even when its the tamest shit ever like "I don't care for this TV show much"

We need a better word for audiobooks though. Like yes I agree audiobooks are great and people should use them if they prefer it (though there’s an argument to be made about still reading physically if you are able) but you can’t say you “read” a book you audiobooked. It’s stupid but it bugs me

The writer behind Jean & many other beloveds has to run a Gofundme so he doesn't die before his court enforced no work injunction ends and after that so he can get his damn IP back from those fucking moralist centrists at za/um

if you think the Meta announcements are bad (they are), wait until you see what the struggling television, film & games industry does in the wake of neo-fascism

it will all be creatively bankrupt, it will all eventually backfire & explode in their faces, but we are in for quite a few years of it

I would love to cold turkey quit meta, specifically fb and insta, but so much of the local pokemon tcg community is stuck on there! like I don't even know what their alternative could be because there's few other places that serve the same purpose as community fb groups

As much as physical books are a luxury I can’t always afford or don’t prioritize nowadays, I do love them. Nothing better than getting to pencil in and dog ear a physical book that you love

It’s certainly possible for me to read 14 more books this year to hit my Goodreads goal. Will I do it though?

It really can't be stated enough how the AI craze is rooted deeply in utter vitriolic disrespect for the working class. Like I've seen multiple cases of this tech being marketed directly on sticking it to us filthy poors who want things like "benefits" and "fair pay for our labor"

Pierre Poilievre wants to defund the CBC. Here’s what Canadians think of that
A new survey shows 78 per cent of us wants the CBC to continue - it’s less clear what to do about it

It’s probably bad like accountability wise but shutting out American politics completely from my feeds since the election has actually been so nice. Obviously I have some privilege to do so, but it’s been much more uplifting to involve myself primarily in local and provincial politics instead

Heart shattering to learn an Israeli drone has targeted and assassinated Mahmoud Almadhoun, one of the founders and chefs behind the Gaza Soup Kitchen.

What started as four pots and essential ingredients in Bait Lahia had grown into a remarkable effort to feed 3,000 people daily.

The popular with friends feed is currently my favourite for reducing cringe posting but I have no idea why the algo on my following is the way it is. Like I follow some people who occasionally post cringe as we all do but the following page sifts the cringe straight to the top of the feed infallibly

The moral tale of The Sword of Damocles is thought to have first appeared in Timaeus of Tauromenium’s History of Sicily (which has been lost to time) and appeared again in Tusculan Disputations by Cicero.
