As for Farage’s use of racist slurs being confined to his childhood - well, that's not what Alan Sked, the founder of UKIP, claimed in this 2014 interview.

He says here that Farage was using the "n" word as late as 1997.

Farage would have been about 33 at time.

I haven't seen any yet but you could probably find a few contemporaries who didn't personally witness Farage being Farage at school. But there doesn't seem to be a single former pupil or teacher who find the descriptions of racism, anti-semitism & cruelty unfeasible. Shocked, I tell you...

The failure of so many people to engage with the real world is quite extraordinary. Why would a UK Prime Minister not want to pick a fight with a sensitive narcissist whose support is absolutely central to maintaining UK security and defence capability? I cannot for the life of me work it out?
Power, wealth and bullying people. That is what Trump cares about.

What is Starmer thinking giving this love in interview. If pretty much any other leader was acting like Trump global leaders would be united in condemning him.

Lie after lie has been told this week about how the Ukraine war started, from the Kremlin and the White House.

Here's our News Agents video essay which explains the truth, and spells out why Trump clings so close to Putin and lives in his warped reality.

Any argument is over - you cannot 'counter' anything on Twitter when its output is being controlled by Nazis. Carry on observing it if you want, but there's no rational basis for contributing to it now, other than to become part of the problem.
if you are still using twitter you are not consuming the news feed you may have, at one time, curated for yourself. you are consuming content hand-tailored for you by nazis
Over on X, simple tweets by my colleague Greg Bluestein of the Atlanta Journal Constitution have been blocked. They were nothing but video of a town hall held by Rep. Rich McCormick R-GA where he was asked questions about DOGE

Trump is a Kremlin asset, it's that simple. If you're an American, like it or not, this is on you and you've got to do something about it. If you're not an American, then know that we're on our own now and must act accordingly. America is lost, that doesn't mean the rest of us have to be.
This is real. Unbelievable but real.

To an extent, I'm already done with the whole Trump thing. Easier for me here in the UK, and I empathise with those who will suffer horribly at the hands of him and his cohort, but the countdown to his permanent exit has already begun, and it won't take long in the grand scheme of things. Just me?

Enough now. It is long past time for a public sale ban on these bloody explosive devices. No more of this, it's heartbreaking, every bloody year.
Will the death of a baby panda prompt a ban on firework sales? We've been reporting on neighbourhoods that feel under siege every November, and concerns that Scotland's new firework control zones aren't enough - perhaps this will concentrate minds.... www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024...

Starmer needs to use these events (dear boy, events) to justify/trigger action on social media, Russian influence, other media wrongdoing and BBC news management bias. Forget having inquiries... act. The reasons are there, so report, investigate, arrest, prosecute, legislate, fire, hire. Do it now.
Musk gone full bat shit now
August 20, 2024 at 9:08 AM
It's starting to look like a Ratner-moment in the UK. Will it ripple out further though? We're whiskers away from 'doing a Musk' becoming the bywords for destroying a business on a worldwide level.
Elon Musk’s financial headaches at X continue as advertiser’s boycott causes an 84% collapse in revenue leaving Musk admitting X could face bankruptcy and asset managers fearing he will devalue Tesla as he sells off up to $2bn of shares to prop it up. fortune.com/2024/08/15/e...
Elon Musk may have to sell billions in Tesla stock to rescue X
Plunging U.S. revenue at X risks opening up a "massive hole" on its balance sheet that Musk needs to plug to stave off its financial collapse.

I think the key point is that, while there is good reason for eg MPs/public bodies still to be on X, they should also post the same content here. Good competition policy reasons for that, quite apart from Musk. And it makes complete withdrawal more plausible later if Musk carries on.
