One great way to see how the far right is built out of the modern choose-your-own-reality media environment is how MAGA types will argue with Grok for hours about basic facts trying to produce some thin excuse to keep believing what they’re already predisposed to believe

Watch!

What may be most telling is the idea that extreme libertarians think that we don't need liberty because? It's this kind of dissonance that makes them and the TRESCREAL movement so scary. How do you even have a rational conversation with such a mindset?

Musk doesn't understand the concept of "human" so fires and rehires as if he's just changing parts in a machine.

How Elon Musk Executed His Takeover of the Federal Bureaucracy (Gift Article)
The operation was driven with a frenetic focus by the billionaire, who channeled his resentment of regulatory oversight into a drastic overhaul of government agencies.

I’m posting two essays. They are a bit longer than most of my writings because I need to provide sufficient context.

Bluesky's message limit precludes serious discussions. I posted www.facebook.com/bob.franksto... (and on LI) but I can only post the summary of DOGEan economics being based on pretending displacing costs and reducing synergy is saving when it really just ups the cost to society.
Bob Frankston
I've been mulling the fundamental fallacy of DOGEan economics -- it's ultimately reductionist without the concept of systems. If the government doesn't pay for sewers, then it is treated as a cost...

You don't compute savings without taking into account costs.
You cannot determine whether you saved or cost money based solely on one side of the ledger.

Example: I saved my household $2K by not paying the mortgage.

Brave. This is the way.
Last night, Musk's staff were stopped trying to enter USAID's HQ. They threatened to call U.S. Marshals.

@cnn.com: Sources say they wanted access to security systems and personnel files and to access classified information.

Today, the USAID Director of Security and his deputy were put on leave.

The thing to understand about Trump is like in his first term, he doesn’t want to govern. He doesn’t want to learn. He wants to campaign and look good.

Republicans know this. So there are battles going on right now to take control of the actual process of governing.

Apparently, there was an executive order emailed to a million federal employees about returning to the office. It was full of typos and no security and looked like spam.

Do people know more about this? Is it being reported in the news? Incompetence stops being funny very quickly.

When someone like @davidmaraniss.bsky.social says it, it’s pretty dire.
The Washington Post editorial this morning essentially equating Biden's questionable pardons with Trump's outrageous Jan. 6 pardons was unconscionable. The newspaper I've been part of for 48 years has utterly lost its soul.
