One of my favourite studies in 2024, Mark Rylance as Thomas Cromwell in Wolf Hall. Took about 4-5 hours I reckon

I often flip the reference and work-in-progress to compare the two pieces with fresh eyes. (Wish there was a way to turn it off in the recording though! 😬)

I recently read Joel F. Harrington’s “The Faithful Executioner,” which was a fascinating look at 16th century European customs around public execution, torture, justice, and the professional, stigmatized lives of executioners.

For me: I’ve read Wolf Hall so MANY times and still find new things. My last read, I appreciated Gregory. It took me at least 4 reads to really fully notice Cromwell’s great project. Maybe 20 before I also asked if he’d betrayed the Cardinal. It’s still new!
