Canada’s colleges and universities are in surprisingly good shape, says a report.

But they reflect wider trends, and demographic change could collapse it. @crof.bsky.social explains.

I am not a fan of the Liberal party (much further left) but this rings true.

Say what you like about Justin Trudeau, he is qualified to be prime minister
The Trudeau Liberal government is the most progressive federal government in Canadian history, though hardly the left-wing regime of Conservative Party rhetoric.

Here is the history of NHC track and intensity forecasts for #Milton through Wednesday morning. The operational observed values are shown by the thick black dots/line.
For track, NHC forecasts have consistently been too far north. For intensity, nothing anticipated that explosive intensification.

Fascinating. Elongated jet dives south, captures #Helene, cuts off into a stalled upper level low, then both systems slingshot each other - #Fujiwhara -and Helene is pulled NW into the Ohio Valley.
But the cut off, “cuts off” any cooler/ drier air from reaching Florida :(

Hurricane Beryl left the African coast about 2 weeks ago and now starts it's trek across North America exiting in Atlantic Canada. It will weaken as it dissipates and will exit sometime late next week. We will likely see some rain and a little wind from it.

Every hurricane season I am taken back to early 1980's, when I experienced my first brush with them. I now live in an area that is on the fringe of exposure. This is increasing as the oceans warm. They are 7c above normal. Here is a link to the first experience

The end of the Silent Generation has about reached its best before date. We are the ones missing out on all this sudden push for care for the elderly. We will be dead by the time it makes a difference. But were lucky to live most of our life during the glory years of the late 20th century in Canada.

Another Stormy nite. This porch in Sydney Cape Breton was clear at 10:30 last night. A good couple of feet on top of the 5 in the ground.

Weather- here we go again! Another NE'r this one at least is not forecast to stall. They are calling for up to a couple of feet. This on top of the 5+' already on the ground. Most side walks are buried under in excess of 10'. Have doubled my grub stash to 2 weeks and am considering more. Bah humbug
