People usually blindly accept any plausible explanation they are given, especially when it comes from an authoritative source.

This the core problem with the White House Press Corps encapsulated: Karoline Leavitt just lied right to your face, you know she's incorrect, and you just move on to your next topic.

It matters that she's wrong and/or lying about it! Stay there!
Q: You acknowledged that CPI in January was 3%. In September, the last month we have data, it was also 3%

LEAVITT: It's 2.5%

Q: Not in September. It was 3%

LEAVITT: I have it in front of me

Democrats have made the healthcare issue apparent to the American people and firmly placed blame on the side of the Republicans. Now they just have to make sure voters don’t forget when midterms roll around. Memories are short after all…

Powell’s position is unenviable. He will upset people no matter what.

Higher productivity has not increased incomes relative to inflation since the ‘80s. What is Powell talking about?
December 10, 2025 at 7:47 PM
If employment doesn’t go up from this rate cut, which is the reason Powell says they are cutting, the @federalreserve.gov loses credibility. This cut is a short-term effort to pump stock prices. Combined with QE, it increases inflation risk and decreases optionality if a black swan event occurs.
December 10, 2025 at 7:40 PM
The Fed needs to be clear that it did not want to do this. It should throw punches at executives that are aggressively laying off workers to boost quarterly profits. This is not healthy growth.
December 10, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Did the Board consider what is going to happen when Powell leaves office? Likelihood of a dovish Fed with more rate cuts and QE increases. Powell doesn’t have much more time to get inflation under control. It doesn’t seem like he will. Therefore, likelihood of higher inflation is also higher.
December 10, 2025 at 7:17 PM
If the Fed were smart, it’d hold rates steady, signaling to the market that it won’t tolerate bad behavior.

The sky is falling for a lot of people, but conservatives just don’t give a fuck.

The conservatives in the Supreme Court are effectively saying that they get to decide which federal agencies are insulated from the President. If that’s not politicizing the Court, I don’t know what is.

Maybe we should spend all the money we’re spending on data centers on hospitals and staffing for hospitals instead. But Congress is too inept to do something that functional and reasonable.
