Every day is a school day. I learned today that an Irish mile was longer than an English one with the Irish one measuring 2240 yards compared with 1760 for English and the Irish mile was used legally until 1826.

Sadly the documents had not yet been digitised and there will be questions as to why protocols were not followed in respect of security and couriering.

Getting many spam messages on my website currently (WordPress). Found a plug in which meant to restrict them so only able to comment if physically on the page but had two more in this morning. May just be a not set up right situ but if they've found a workaround then other ideas welcomed. Thanks.

Not a nice drive today. Started with a lorry that couldn't seem to stay on the right side of road, then as we came up to lights where road widens to two lanes I moved into right one, it then moved over, then back, then through two red lights. Hadn't even travelled five miles at this point. 😞

#Sad

Popped in to churchyard to visit 2x Great Grandparents grave & then spotted very modern one nearby.

Did know they had died but is the first time I've found the grave of someone younger than me that I knew.

His sister and I were at primary school together as they lived next door for a time.

We need to talk about enparishification…

Does your research lack detail? Are you unsure about where your ancestors actually came from? Can you tell the difference between a village and a parish of the same name or do you often conflate the two?

If you answered ‘yes’ to those questions, watch this…
