I'd love to see someone try to estimate just how much time and money has gone into research that is either fully undermined by reliance on LLMs or fully pointless --- because obvious if you start from an understanding of what LLMs actually are.

Something I've found really fruitful for me as an architectural principle is understanding that you can simplify a complication, but you have to adapt to complexity.

Which means that complicated things can be abstracted over, but complexity requires re-framing and demands novelty.

Whenever developers complain that meetings take too much of their time I automatically assume they value the experience of being in The Flow over actually doing something productive. But they think being in The Flow is productive all on its own.

The Norwegian Labour Party can’t blame anyone for their current inaction with regards to the 14.000 starving infants in Gaza.

They are running this country all by themselves. What they don’t do in this moment is 100% on them.

Q&A from a talk I gave last week.

Q: "What do you think is the biggest threat in cybersecurity right now? Is it post-quantum computing? Is it AI?"

A: Fascism. It's fascism.

Just got warned that the new "Voice Isolation" feature in Teams, if turned on and trained on a male voice, will filter out all the women in the room, while still allowing the men in the room to be heard online.

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read.

He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords

Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

To make an analogy to the physical, a focus on cognitive load exclusively would be like military planners focusing exclusively on individual warfighter carry weight and pack composition, ignoring logistics. Yes, it matters how much you ask an individual to carry, but it's not the *only* thing.
A fun quirk of cognitive load: If you think the important thing to fix is cognitive load, it means that you're basically only concerned about working memory.

Consequently, the following things aren't captured:
- long term planning
- comms
- creativity
- casual reasoning
- domain specific thinking

It occurred to me that the reason not to chose out-of-the-box platform solutions is that often, the real value comes from shaping the platform from the very basics
