There’s a massive hardcover edition of The Hobbit that’s illustrated entirely with cels from the R-B movie that’s one of my prized possessions and I maintain that it’s the definitive edition.

Something just hit an I/O limit, I’m guessing.

LOL you just googled and pasted the names of a bunch of fault-handling systems and thought that would impress?

As it happens I’ve looked at Temporal before. It’s a nifty system but let’s take a look and see what their RTO is for a full regional failure like happened last week. Oh huh.

This was absolutely the moment when the MCU went irrevocably off the rails.

You literally claimed that there was a library that cost "pennies" that could solve this problem for Signal. Still waiting for you to tell me where I can download this; can't wait to try it.

This fucking kills me, because it was a very deliberate decision on Google’s part to not do layoffs during the GFC, the amount of employee loyalty it bought them was incalculable and THAT WORKED OUT PRETTY WELL FOR THE SHAREHOLDERS.

The ideal gambling venue should look and smell like the worst decision you've ever made in your life. I support one single exception to the indoor smoking ban in NY for this purpose. RETVRN.

The amount of pettifogging on this drives me spare. "No, supply and demand don't apply because WHARRRGARBL."

1. Housing is _always_ the biggest expense you have, and the one you will spend the _most_ time trying to optimize
2. Landlords know the current vacancy rate like they know their own names

Every once in a while I manage to learn, often against my will, a fact about NYS/NYC politics that stops me in my tracks.

Of the many, many gobsmacking aspects of the NTSB report on the OceanGate Titan's implosion, it was this relatively straightforward one that made my entire head explode like the guy in Scanners.

They left it in a parking lot. Outside. Through an entire winter.

It finally happened: OkCupid is no more. If you open the app it prompts you to migrate your profile to Tinder. Sic transit gloria mundi.

If at all possible, live your life in a way such that Aimee Mann never writes a casually devastating breakup song about you.

Oh Bluesky, never change.

<norman_rockwell_free_speech.jpg> actually there’s nothing remotely problematic about anyone in their 40s dating anyone older than them by any margin. 40 year olds are bona fide adults who can be trusted to make their own choices.

The 90s were wild. Pictured: one of the hottest women you have ever or will ever see, a woman that anyone sexually attracted to women would crawl over glass for.

Caption: check out thunder thighs here!

(And the British tabloids were vile even by the standards of the time.)
