Now that this news has come out, along with the surge in crackdowns and unprecedented repression against the media, I want to take you back to 2021. Looking at the past, we may see a very clear pattern.

Patroling🫡 and🎥. People organized patroling teams to defend the citizens from hired thugs who are attacking them, as the police didn’t protect them. There were multiple titushky attack attempts today, which only got prevented by these guys.

I'm starting to feel the tension here in Georgia. The protests and crackdowns are escalating but with no obvious endpoint, and past experience here and abroad suggests that the regime is going to win.
Nothing I've seen from the opposition gives me any hope.

Every day I come to the protests, my inner pessimist fears that the numbers will be down, that people will be scared or tired or bored.

Every day so far (and it's Day 6) my inner pessimist is wrong. Numbers bigger than ever today

I can't believe I wrote this just a few days ago. Everything seemed lost then.

I have never been as happy to have been as humiliatingly wrong as I am now!

I do think it's still worth reading though as a lot of it is still relevant. We ignore the lessons of the last months at our peril.
“Most painfully for pro-EU forces, Georgian democracy did not die heroically in a hail of Russian bullets, or under the batons of riot police. It appears to be dying because it’s too cold outside and Georgians are too depressed and nihilistic to resist.”
