A tipping point that concerns me is the notion that carbon sinks (forests, soils, and especially the oceans) which have absorbed much of the CO2 we humans have dumped into the sky, will soon no longer serve that function as well, which would lead to a rapid increase in ppm in the atmosphere.

Many modeling studies depend on direct air capture (DAC) in their 1.5°C stabilization scenarios, but they rely on overly optimistic assumptions regarding the cost and scaling of DAC systems. This leads to highly misleading results that impact the ability to reach climate stabilization goals.
Reality check on technologies to remove carbon dioxide from the air
An MIT Energy Initiative study finds many climate-stabilization plans are based on questionable assumptions about the future cost and deployment of “direct air capture” and therefore may not bring abo...

From my perspective the main source of noise pollution in #Larnaca is from car traffic.
Superbikes racing at all hours of the night, cars speeding down my residential road and bikes and scooters with their silencers removed all have woken me up over the last week.
Why Cyprus is the noisiest place in Europe
According to 2020 research, Cyprus has by far the highest level of urban noise pollution in Europe. Almost half of us are being exposed to constant noise! And by constant, we don’t mean your mother-in...
