Axios had a story today about how hard Minnesota’s economy is being hit and how slow the recovery could be. So, I’m going to take this opportunity to say that if you want to support the Twin Cities, you should plan a visit for this summer, spend some money here, & see how amazing it is for yourself.

We are observers, not protestors. We show up to document and film the atrocities ICE is committing. Using 5 year olds as bait. Kidnapping senior citizens. Breaking down doors without warrants. Murdering poets and nurses. Media has all of that information because *observers* were there to document it

Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."

It’s kinda hard to explain just how much *nothing* else matters right now in the Twin Cities. People are still going out and watching sports to try to recover, sure. But I literally do not know what else is going on nationally in the news besides a few headlines.

Until about 30 years ago, the Chain of Lakes seemed like it would be lost, to be slowly strangled by all the pollution and runoff of the metropolis that grew up around it. A forward-thinking project that started then reversed decades of environmental degradation.
A ‘C’ ranking for the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes is a triumph of environmental restoration
The most visited natural destination in Minnesota lies in its most densely developed region.

I believe one of the biggest hurdles to biking for many families in Minneapolis is the rampant bike theft

The advocacy groups are doing great work around improving the network, access to bikes, etc, but if we want people committing $$$ to biking in the city we need to slow theft down

If any pro-vaccine study did something like this, the anti-vax movement would broadcast it so loud and make it the centerpiece of a documentary. But, bc the anti-vax movement is fundamentally about eugenics and propaganda, they'll just hand-wave it away, play the victim, and move on.

I don't want to hear about your lost loves, tell me about the restaurant food that haunts you because you'll never be able to taste it again

It’s striking to me how patently obvious the lies are that animate this political moment. America is not a hellscape. Our cities are not lawless war zones. The country is not awash in criminal migrants.

Forget the statistics that disprove the lies. Just look around. Those things aren’t happening.

The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in shadows of life, the sick, the needy, and the handicapped.”

You gotta understand that from like 2000 onward Millennials were blamed for everything when we were just reacting to all the bad shit the adults were doing or had already done. We were called lazy, entitled, participation trophy kids, and when we screamed about shit, nobody listened.

Maybe people wouldn't get so mad at health insurance companies if we accurately described how they work. Paying premiums doesn't buy you care, it buys you the opportunity to pay an unknown amount for care in the future. Hmm ok that may make people more mad actually

What's worse than Big Pharma? A completely unregulated version of Big Pharma that can claim damn near whatever it wants, doesn't have to prove efficacy, and can just hand-wave the ingredients list.
Unfun fact - people like supplements because they are "natural" and "safe", but they have big issues with safety. Supplements tend to be ineffective, so a common practice in the industry is to adulterate the pills with effective medications and not declare this on the label.
