@nytimes.com is the propaganda arm of the ruling elite and you should never forget that.
They’re trying to spin:

1. They sound nostalgic as if they miss the good old days of Epstein trafficking and raping children.

2. They write it in the past tense to help Trump by making it seem like all that was in the past and things are totally different now.

This post right here is the kind of bullshit that @groundnews.bsky.social cuts right through.

You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.

For the last decade or so I had this notion we were on the run up to another world war, but now I'm wondering if instead were just headed into a Soviet Union style collapse of the United States.

This NYT story about how Mamdani dealt with the opposition by the city's elites fails to mention one particular elite institution: The NYT editorial page, which last June railed against him as "uniquely unsuited to the city’s challenges... lacks political savvy"

Just in case you had any doubts, here is Chuck Schumer signalling his fealty to the broligarchs that control him.
this shit right here is wrecker shit, as much as wrecker shit as any online leftist has done, if not more so. no wonder so many people are repulsed by anyone (rightly) saying 'vote blue no matter who', the most powerful elected Dem in the nation won't do it! it undermines the whole coalition! jfc

I prefer the term"feral capitalism", as opposed to what we should be doing, which is"domesticated capitalism".
For the love of God stop calling capitalism “Technofeudalism.” This is not a mutant regression off the track of benign capitalism’s progress to utopia. This is capitalism doing capitalism.

So how much AI coding is happening at Google these days?

Asking because so many services are going downhill so rapidly.

Home has weird outages, docs is glitchy, and maps directions are totally untrustworthy at this point.

"which would allow any party that wins control of the White House and both chambers of Congress to rewrite the nation’s laws in a relatively short period of time."

We can't have that! Where do you think you live, in some sort of a democracy?!

I endorse this position.

The filibuster is antithetical to democracy.
Trump: “…BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE GONE STONE COLD “CRAZY,” THE CHOICE IS CLEAR — INITIATE THE “NUCLEAR OPTION,” GET RID OF THE FILIBUSTER AND, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

The media isn't going to save us.
The corps aren't going to save us.
The elite aren't going to save us.
The only thing that's going to save us is "We the people".

But only after all other options are exhausted.
Oh?
CNN editor-in-chief Mark Thompson, following a While House meeting, sought to soften the news network's coverage of President Trump's demolition of the East Wing, claiming viewers aren't that interested in the story, according to the Status newsletter.

When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.
