Of course the president can’t subvert the Constitution by lying that there’s an emergency. If lying that there’s an emergency is a magic loophole granting the executive branch the powers of Congress, there’s no point to Article I.

The fact that this is even a question is a sign of degradation.

BlinkRX, an online prescription drug delivery company, stands to benefit from proposed changes by Trump that would allow pharmaceutical companies to sell drugs directly to patients.

His son, Eric Trump, is on the company’s board.

Always follow the money.

This will have to count as my Supreme Court term review.

I make that point that there's no point in reviewing what the Supreme Court has done because the rule of law is dead in this country anyway.

My latest in @thenation.com
The Rule of Law Is Dead in the US
The rule of law presupposes that there are rules that provide a consistent, repeatable, and knowable set of outcomes. That’s no longer the case.

It's clear that a huge chunk of Trump supporters, if not the majority, want to deport ALL non-citizens. It's not just the very small fraction of undocumented folks with criminal records. All of them. Documented or not. No criminal record. Children. Doesn't matter. All of them.

Trump wants 20,000 troops to hunt, transport immigrants. Cost estimate: $3.6 billion
The moves would shift the military from its mission of defending the nation against foreign adversaries toward policing its streets.

You're seeing America kamikaze itself into a brick wall.

It didn't have to be this way.

But greed and racism, our two sins, will be our downfall.

Too many people still with their hands in the sand.

the thing is, if you cannot consolidate the base of the party you cannot win. Bernie was largely a white movement within the Left and Bernie does not fuck with INTERSECTIONALITY in his ideology, so he is actually INCAPABLE of consolidating the base of the party. This is why AOC is and does better.

“Look what you made me do” is just rationalization.

@anthonylfisher.bsky.social takes on the weak “woke right” excuse.
Opinion | The so-called ‘woke right’ is just old-school racism by another name
A woman earned over $700k in donations after calling a child the N-word. Trump-friendly pundits blamed it on the left for provoking the “woke right.”

We are living in a time when monsters roam the globe.

They are destroying countless lives, fueling hate, spreading fear.

What is our moral obligation as human beings in the face of this?

How do we maintain integrity in a time of monsters? https://robertreich.substack.com/p/sunday-thought-68f
