We filled a complaint against Ireland to the European Commission today.
Ireland has appointed an ex-Meta lobbyist as its new Data Protection Commissioner.
This will be interpreted by the tech industry as a signal of impunity.
The European Commission must intervene.

Today it's a mandatory digital ID card to prove you have the right to work but in the future you might have to use it to access the NHS, to rent or buy a home, or to access benefits.

Yes, it’s important to have an informed debate about the proposed introduction of digital IDs. But the ‘others do it, so why don’t we’ argument is not a compelling one.
Starmer’s ID plan has caused upset, but in the EU the debate has long been settled
ID cards have become an essential part of life for many across the bloc, with digital versions already launched in many member states
