Sound UP! When a gang of young male Superb Lyrebirds surround you, often within less than a metre. I zoomed back to 80mm but often had to lean back to get this footage. I've left it largely unedited to capture the mayhem of the moment. #birds #birding #nature #lyrebirds

Israel has committed genocide. There is no more serious crime under international law. Culpability does not fade simply because there is now a ceasefire agreement, in the same way that a serial killer wouldn't be pardoned if they simply stop killing. There must be consequences.

For anyone in Naarm/Melbourne (or beyond) in the mood for a folk-horror-esque ramble through the bush, my PhD artwork, Solitary Soundwalks ‘Wilson Reserve’ is now available to buy through my website ( www.japinney.com ) or at Ladyhawke - the bookshop in Ivanhoe. Remember, you walk at your own risk.

Papa has spoken
Werner Herzog has slammed the use of AI in new cinematic releases, saying that films that make use of the technology “look completely dead.”

“There are stories, but they have no soul. They are empty and soulless.”

Amen to that!

So grateful to my past self for holding on to all my dvds because I’ve been in my new place for almost three months and I STILL DO NOT HAVE WI-FI! There’s a chance I may be closer due to the unhinged voicemail I left for the nbn guy’s but still. I had 16 box sets of simpsons and I finished them!!!!!

There’ve been many surprises while riding the waves of grief since Edie passed but vacuuming the living room rug just made me sob and laugh at what causes the waves to crash.

Built in the 13th century. So that mosque stood for 800 years with every sort of person from every place and every religion in the world passing through Gaza century after century, only for it to be blown up by some shithead loser sitting behind a computer that we probably paid for.

If this is my legacy (getting pensioners free money) then I am happy as fuck!
I was bullied into filling out the Power Saving Bonus form by @birdwarden.bsky.social so now I am bullying any other concession-card-havers in Victoria who might have let it slide: get your free money!! powersavingbonus5.energy.vic.gov.au

I miss her so much. It’s astounding how effortlessly she filled my life and how so many moments throughout the day are left feeling empty now she’s gone. New little reminders crushing me throughout every day since.

Anyone in the Darebin Parklands region got a spare few minutes and a pressure washer? Some area pests have graffitied The Nest with nazi shit (not sharing a photo), which someone else has valiantly tried to cover up. I'd say the position of Nest near the Healing Trail is intentional.

This is the most egregiously stupid hubris filled idea I’ve ever heard and I hope it never goes ahead!
You might have heard of this company that wants to put giant reflectors in space to "light up" parts of the earth. It would be catastrophic not just for astronomers, but for...any people or creatures who thrive at night.
Have comments? The American Astronomical Society would love to hear from you.
Assessing Astronomical Impacts of Reflect Orbital’s Proposed Satellite System
This survey is being conducted by the American Astronomical Society (AAS) to gather input from astronomers, observatories, and night sky users worldwide regarding the potential impacts of Reflect Orbi...

maybe we shouldn't run "neo-nazi does [anything]" as the top story on national news websites unless it's meaningfully newsworthy/impactful? these are people who want to exterminate australians + are actively trying to get attention. we can't treat them as normal political players

If you are at Bendigo Writers Festival and can't see me there because I pulled out due to censorship concerns AND you want to buy my books, please visit Bookish in Bendigo. Bookshops are good people.
Bookish in Bendigo have pulled out as Bendigo Writers Festival's bookseller - this principled move comes at great cost to them as an independent store. If you've been thinking of purchasing a book (esp. one by someone who's also pulled labour from BWF), consider going to them! +61 3 5406 0596
