Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Well, I managed to successfully not throw anything at the TV while watching Anderson Cooper credulously interview Dario Amodei about The Model.

This gives me flashbacks to my teenage years of going through the Apple ][ technical manual, and reading @stevewoz.bsky.social assembly language listings of the floppy drive encoding/decoding. It was fascinating stuff. With less abstraction, things were so much simpler and easy to digest then.
There is so much that is very funny about the deepest physical factors of computational operation. OK you want to store 100 zeros in a row. OK just put 100 lows on a magnetic disk. OK but how do you know where each zero starts? Clocks are good but you're running against increasing factors of error.

While the gospels say that Judas led the Romans to Jesus, a new theory is gaining traction with some Biblical scholars. There is evidence, some say, that Judas merely shared Christ's location on an insecure group chat that accidentally included several Roman officials and journalists.

This is how those of us of a certain age first learned about April 19, 1775.

Still inspires.

So did Lutnick look at last night’s Treasury futures, and realize that Cantor Fitzgerald was in existential danger and had his boss act?

Am I a little slow on the uptake here? Or does what our president really want is a barter system with every other country (and a few non-countries) in the world?

Here's how you end a Hands Off! demonstration, Santa Barbara style. Thanks to the Society of Fearless Grandmothers, who organized the human alphabet and took the drone shots! #indivisible #handsoff

The march in Santa Barbara got held up by the Pacific Surfliner coming into the train station. The engineer was blowing the horn the whole time it was coming in, and holding up a sign that said “FDT”.

Crowd gathering at West Beach in Santa Barbara at the end of the #HandsOff march. Marchers to up 4-5 blocks (easily into the 1,000s)

Good news: got my invite to the WWDC keynote in Cupertino. Bad news: I had already booked a trip to visit a 98 year old relative (and race my gravel bike) the same week.

Do I skip the race, reschedule the trip, and drink some Cupertino Kool-Aid? Or do I stick with the original plan?
