I am a widow to young onset Alzheimer's, a County Councillor, retired academic, motorcyclist, reformed couch potato and chocolate addict.
Trimmed the five privets with the hedgetrimmer today. First time I have dared to do it. Quite pleased with the results. Gave the laurel and one of the bamboos a trim into the bargain!

New lime flavoured mint with a repotted traditional spearmint behind. Looking forward to trying the new mint on fish.

Isn't this little dianthus lovely? It had to be bought.

Went to Thistleton Herb Nursery open garden day and unfortunately bought some plants which all needed planting and there were other bits to do too. Will my back forgive me?

Spot of @parkrun tourism today. I walked the beautiful Abbey Park in Leicester. Fantastic marshals, very friendly parkrun. That is A done.

Nice little ride on the ebike this morning, thanks to @nessawinters.bsky.social. It felt like I could have gone further. Next time I will.

Went to the cemetery today to water the shrub on my husband's plot (I change it each month, bring the previous one home and plant it in his beloved garden) and it has gone! Shrub. Pot. No trace except the brown mark in the grass where it was. Gutted.

Travelled home to Rutland from Scotland today, mainly down A1. From crossing the Notts border there were demonstrations of the most dreadful driving: tailgating, undertaking at high speed, cutting across at last min for exits. Explains a lot of the accidents. Just bad driving.

That's another two off your bucket list Trevor. Just wish you had been with me to see them.

Today would have been my late husband Trevor's 70th birthday. I have dedicated some trees in the National Forest to celebrate the life he did have, albeit too short.

Managed 10 mins round town on the borrowed electric bike eventually (front tyre needed some wind, helmet needed adjusting). Successfully added and subtracted assist. Ready for a bit further when it is not so cold, breezy and threatening rain.

Update on freezer: under Consumer Act, freezers should last longer than five years so retailer should arrange repair. Needless to say @Magnet are wriggling hard.

Update on the freezer: hasn't held temperature overnight. Looks like I could be in for a new freezer.

Freezer repair man had a space & popped out. Had a few ideas. Freezer on trial now.
Neighbour has a little freezer in her garage & would be very, very happy if I used it. So will be collecting freezer contents from friend & moving to neighbour.
Freezer is thoroughly cleaned.

Freezer died yesterday evening. Quick dash to a friend who has offered space. Neighbour has spare freezer in the garage they are just cooling for later in the week. Repair man next week. Could have done without it.

Note to self: when freezing weather is predicted, take the fancy trigger off the hose pipe to prevent yourself getting soaked through the cracked casing the next time you use it.

A really interesting read. As a family that includes an MS parkwalker (and parkrun ambassador), a pensioner who didn't take up parkrun until 69 and now goes every week, and other regular runners/volunteers, I see it having both life-affirming as well as life-changing benefits. It's unique.
