Driving through Somme today, passing Arras and Amiens and villages with polychrome statues and war graves. The French have a more natural and effecting sense of remembrance, embedded in the landscape, than the UK does with its compulsory poppy culture.

They've now gone home.

Did the full on Sunday lunch for daughter and hubby today.
Slow cooked pork shoulder and all the trimmings. If I say so myself it was awesome.
