There's something about the Winter Olympic curling that always draws me in. Weird, isn't it? I need to get on with some work.

Starmer must go but we also need transparency on Johnson meeting Lebedev without his security detail. It is shocking that it was brushed under the carpet.

What a mess Welsh RU is in. Maybe some don't see a link between the awful politics off the pitch and the game. However, out of curiosity, I just clicked on an ad for Wales v Scotland tickets and it's not hard to get one through official channels. Nowhere near a sell out!

It's tragic. Would Woodward and Bernstein even get jobs in 2026?

Is this normal behaviour for a political leader?
Farage has registered £15,451.52 for recordings on Cameo, an app and website service which enables people to ask their favourite celebrities or public figures to record personalised messages.

For anyone who loves Rugby Union, today is Christmas Eve. The World Cup is great but the #SixNations is the pinnacle, the ultimate competition, and the realisation that Spring is on the way.
Will I see you in Paris for the finale?

Still a huge favourite on my record player.
Echo And The Bunnymen released Porcupine on this day in 1983 (4 February 1983). You can replay the listening party (no_826) here:

Fun fact - Lee Dixon, who is on TV as a pundit right now, was only allowed to play football in school PE lessons on the odd occasion each year. We both attended a rugby playing school and football was only allowed during an annual inter-form sports competition.

Bringing back Mandelson, presumably in a bid to suck up to Trump, was a stupid move and may well bring Starmer down.

Feel sorry for anyone outside on a farm or building site. I have just been walking the dog and the windchill factor is extreme. Zero feels like -5.

I will forever remain amazed by those who try to post knowledgably about Stoke City signings they knew bugger all about 48 hours before the transfer deadline.

Robert Jenrick, a recent Justice Minister, is constantly moaning about crime and says Britain is broken.
Crime he did nothing about.

Crazy that they do the World Cup draw so far in advance but it does mean people can make travel plans. A travel guy I know says sports travel is now huge as people retire early.

Seems premature that England RU has announced a team for Saturday today (Monday), doesn't it? #SixNations

My daughters have never been to a curry house. What would be your North Staffs recommendation, Bluesky friends?
February 2, 2026 at 6:33 PM
England's team for the weekend shows we are all going to have to think again about how Rugby Union works. Itoje, Curry (T), and Cowan-Dickie are all in the 'bomb squad'. The presence and experience they should bring in the last 30 minutes is huge.

Huge own goal by Badenoch
Kemi Badenoch says she doesn’t want centrists in her party.

Instead of focusing on what people actually want, like an NHS that works, she’s choosing to imitate Farage.

If you’re sick of the name calling and just want things fixed, join the Liberal Democrats.

Lots of people appear to have been asking Epstein for money. You have to assume that money must have bought influence, don't you?
This part of the Epstein scandal is only now coming to prominence.

Pathirana's bowling action is mad. He's surely going to put his back out, isn't he? Remember Malinga the Slinger?

Some people will dislike that I kept my X account, mainly for the sports chat, but its currently very amusing how the young, female by-election candidate for the Green Party really triggers the old reactionary Tories and Reform UK members.

Just watched the #Liverpool win. Obviously not the headline grabber but the player I admire in that side is Gravenberch. He's a player who knits everything together.

Do you agree?

No matter how many times Stoke City have changed the names on the teamsheet since relegation, there's always a part of each season where they seem devoid of passion. Supporters had hoped that had changed. Not today. Has anyone considered carrying out an exorcism at that godforsaken stadium?
