When authoritarians tell you they like authoritarianism, over and over and over and over and over again, believe them
Trump on Egypt: "They have very little crime. Because they don't play games. That's why. Like we do in the United States with governors that have no idea what they're doing."

Well, I'm no JAG, but yes, I think illegal, for following reasons:
1. Civilian vessel
2. Not self-defense
3. No attempt at interdiction (i.e. disable engines)
4. Int'l waters
5. No PID on folks in boat (could be civilians)
6. No declared state of war or hostilities so unclear authorization

Susanne Williamson is a teacher with a master’s degree who has been dedicated to teaching for fifteen years and made $58,000 a year.

Meanwhile, ICE is offering new hires $100,000 to start, plus signing bonuses, and student loan debt forgiveness.

We’re not broke!

We’re funding hate!

As the United States becomes more brazenly corrupt, we have reached the stage where meetings to plan cover-ups of crimes are not done in secret, but are announced, and are not done in remote parking decks, but at the Vice President's home.

TEXAS @repcasar.bsky.social : “Imagine in another country a corrupt president was trying to change the election laws. Then that president’s political ally threatened to remove all the legislators of the other party to get it done. That’s what’s happening in Texas right now.”

“What do you think of the possibility of Trump pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell?”

Virginia Giuffre’s family: “It would be an abomination… our sister always told us Maxwell was even worse than Epstein.”

I am at a global health conference this week. I do not think Americans fully understand the degree of harm we have done to our international reputation and to our ability to wield soft power for decades to come.

Man who had a student kidnapped and trafficked because she wrote something he didn't like yuks it up with man who had a journalist dismembered with a hacksaw because he wrote things the man didn't like.

Today in life under competitive authoritarianism

Sen Booker & Rep Jeffries are still drawing We, the People to the Capitol Steps. Rep Jeffries called on the spirit of John Lewis & made it clear: Good Trouble lives on in heroes like Cole.
These kids are fierce.
Their fight is righteous.
This is the kind of trouble that saves lives.

As the government flings itself apart, we will keep coming back to the grim reality. Trump can’t be restrained, or reasoned with, or babysat for the next four years. The only way to bring power back under the rule of law is to remove a lawless man from power.

Opinion | Some members of Congress are starting to talk about impeachment. They’re right.
It’s time to stop beating around the bush: Trump must be impeached and removed from office.

A decade of systematic, intentional failure, systematically & intentionally continuing

Today in "neither our media nor our political system is designed to deal with a far right authoritarian party"
Every so often I look at the paper of record to see if it is quickly communicating to readers that they are living through a constitutional crisis, and the answer consistently is "no."
They are covering the topics, but in the name of journalistic balance, not conveying the alarm.

Sometimes it feels like I’m going crazy, because there is something that is right in front of our faces, has been for years, and nobody of consequence ever says it:
Donald Trump works for Vladimir Putin.
How much more proof does anyone need? And what is anybody going to do about it?

He can’t defend Republican policies to his constituents

So he runs away
