First post. Finally gave up on Twitter, X, whatever after 15 years. For those who happen across this, I stand with Hong Kongers against the CCP, with Ukrainians fighting for their survival against Putin's Russia (hi #NAFO), and generally like to dive in on an assortment of topics.

The #HongKong selections—they aren’t elections—now serve three purposes:
1. Generating an illusion of #democracy.
2. Prompting displays of pro-#China govt loyalty.
3. Giving cover to international finance and other businesses (see #1).
If the imprisonment of 45 peaceful pro-democracy activists for, essentially, trying to win an election isn’t a red line, then what is the point of any of them?

Keira Starmer has got to go.

Can't he be Liz Truss'd?

This is dismal and disappointing. And utterly at odds with what he said about Jimmy Lai yesterday

Sigh. Loving Bluesky after a couple days, but I see the specter of Alex Lo will continue to haunt.

Now I suppose I'll have to follow @scmp.bsky.social here and continually remind them that they're a fallen publication.
I have firsthand information that US consul general to #HongKong Gregory May offered himself to be interviewed by the South Morning Post - and was flatly rejected. Real arrogance is allowing your Canada-based opinionista to take shots at a diplomatic representative and refusing a right of reply.

It's awful any of them got sentences, even though the sentences could have been worse.

Even one day in jail for these Hong Kongers is one too many.

I hope that when they finally do get out that they find a way to leave the city.

They've done their part and deserve goo's lives.

The fact they've had yo wait this long at all for sentencing has been a sentence in and of itself.

Yeah no. Biden allowing Ukraine to use ATACMS inside Russia will not start WWIII. It will finally allow Ukrainians to hit targets to slow constant RU missile attacks, defend their borders, maintain position in Kursk, and hit North Korean troops.
