Spinning now, Murray Perahia's recording of Schubert's sonatas 958, 959, and 960. In a very short period of time, Schubert produced these most remarkable piano works, with D960 being a piece one can listen to hundreds of times and never cease to be shaken to the core.

@celesteheadlee.bsky.social Please forgive the intrusion, but I was just thrilled to see your post. By the way, the recording of the Afro-American Symphony which I consider the best is on Bridge Records in 1999, recorded in 1965, and beautifully remastered. Royal Philharmonic, Karl Kruger.

Thanks for the great information about your grandfather. I have many recordings of his work in my collection.
My grandfather is William Grant Still, the Dean of African-American composers and one of the most accomplished musicians the US has ever produced. He is arguably the best orchestral arranger of the 20th century.
